About Rototrek
A graduate in aerospace engineering, Mark Rumsey is a passionate student of aviation and personal VTOL flight.
Living in Southern California is wonderful except for the TRAFFIC! For more than 20 years I have been trying to find a way to fly to work. In 2015 I learned how to power-paraglide and actually DID fly to and from work – once. Unfortunately power paragliding is very weather dependent and flying to work that way didn’t save time. The faster solution is some type of helicopter but that can be very expensive because of all the steps involved. First you have to get a pilot’s license, then you have to learn to fly a helicopter, then you have to purchase a helicopter and rent a hangar. This is easily tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. There has to be a better way!
My passion for aviation has also made me a student of aviation history. After looking at all the different attempts at personal VTOL aircraft over the last 100 years, I see the elegant design of the Mirocopter SCH-2A as the best solution for inexpensive and safe VTOL flight.
